Hey,

With the emergence of GTA IV and Rockband within the last two or three weeks, we’ve definitely had alot to do and play. Unfortunately this means we’ve tried to put off doing a blog post for as long as we can to either play one more song, or just kill more people. So tonight I’ve finally torn myself away from Rockband to post something!

First off GTA IV was released in the UK some 5 weeks ago now. Adam bought the 360 version on release day, and we were quick to start playing it. Unsurprisingly GTA IV is somewhat like any other GTA game. A sandbox game where killing and mayhem is always on the agenda. As per the last game, you first have to do a couple of missions before you’re really free to do what you want. These were quick and easy, and to be honest we didn’t really pay much attention. It was then onto the killing, we found some cars and went hunting. XD

Graphical this game is good, the effects are nice and its the most realistic GTA out there. As for content its another repeat of the older GTA’s. The story mode however is alot better than we’ve seen before in a GTA game. Added into this GTA is the addition of multiplayer. Most of these modes are fun to play, though there were a few connection issues at times, but that may have been Adams internet, or the server buckling under the weight of opening week.

If you like the other GTA’s then definitely buy this game. If you weren’t keen on the previous games, you probably wont be keen on this one either.

Rockband, Rockband, Rockband. One of the games i’ve most been looking forward to all year. For me, its hasn’t let me down. I pressured Adam into buying it, and he loves it.

The best part of the game? The drums.

I love playing the drums. If i was desperate to pretend to play guitar, i’d buy Guitar Hero (I did). The drums are fun, they’re different, they hold my attention far longer than the guitar tour did, and after a long, tough song i feel physically tired. Yeah i’m not the most fittest in the world but still…

The guitar mode on this game is no where near as tough as Guitar Hero 3, however the last song on Rockband is a right biznitch. (Think Freebird) This said it’s still fun to play, and even funner when you get a solo and your playing in a multiplayer, the pressure can really get to you!

Multiplayer on Rockband is wicked cool. Its so much fun to play some awesome tunes with some mates. I’ve played this game with the full 5 piece band and its alot funner than you think.

The DLC on this game has stared out promising, there are quite a few good tracks out at the moment, and this is supposed to be added to every week. Good songs will be a-coming.

If you like Guitar Hero, and don’t want to play the drums or sing, don’t bother buying it, there are no songs that are a challenge compared to Guitar Hero’s Expert career.

To be honest though, who never wanted to be a drummer in a Rock n Roll band?!

Buy it, so long as you have mates, you won’t regret it!

P.S. Next review will be music! Probably The Zutons new album, the Hadouken album, and Weezers new album. Stay tunned!

Evening,

So this evening/afternoon i finally got chance to see Iron Man. To be honest, i was almost skeptical it could really be that good.

It was.

Basically, i loved this film. The entire two hours or so that this film went on for was possibly the most fun i’ve had watching a film in the cinema for a very long time.

Through out the film there is a high amount of action. All this action is awesome. It is entertaining and none of it gets boring.

The acting was second to none, and Robert Downey Jr was great through out the film and, although i wasn’t expecting much, Gwyneth Paltrow passed as a convincing Pepper Potts. (Can you believe that name!)

The CGI in this film was also awesome, at times i wasn’t sure what was CGI and what was real, at times it took my breath away. I also really liked the way this film was shot, and the camera angles through out were top notch.

Basically see this film, you really won’t regret it. The time will fly by, and you’ll wish it hadn’t felt so quick. Definitely stay untill after the credits (even though they go on forever!) but you won’t be dissapointed. It definetly seems like there will be another Iron Man film, and i don’t feel that that’s a bad thing.

I’ve nealy finished watching all the Rocky films (Yes i know they came out ages ago) I will try and post a review of the series before the end of the week, i might even post a music review or two as well.

Please leave us some comments! We’d love your feedback on what you like us doing, what you dont like us doing, it’ll help us to develop our skills into something that everyone wants to keep reading!

Untill the end of the week…

Hey,

Well as promised here is my post about my new HP Laptop (dv6750ea). Specs being:

  • Windows Vista Home Premium
  • Intel Centrino Duo 1.6ghz
  • 2gb Ram
  • 160gb HDD
  • Nvidia 8400GS 256mb Dedicated
  • 15.4 Wide screen Display
  • HD Dvd Player – (Useless)

Ok this is a real nice laptop, looks nice, case has some funky pattern on it. So its appealing to the eye. Having been using my Mac for over two years ( had to sell the mac, it was overheating so much it cut the wireless card out, plus the battery wouldn’t charge) its nice to try vista, regardless of all the other reviews about how much of a flop it has been.

It has a nice looking interface, nice with all its transparent borders and all  that jazz. All be it, I do prefer the macs clean look, less clutter on the desktop, but maybe that’s just what I am used to.

Laptop is coping really well with general running of Vista, haven’t hit the blue screen of death yet :) I would recommend getting it with at least 2gb of RAM and a half decent graphics card, otherwise its going to run on the slow side, matched with a half decent processor your going to be fine.

I guess is like getting back into an old pair of shoes really, its much the same, yeah it looks a bit flashy, icons have changed, overall I don’t love it, its just Windows.

Hey.

So my macbook has gone. yes sorry to say it but it had to go. Reasons for this was that it was just overheating, to the point of stopping the wireless card from working. Secondly the battery life had just fallen into…well..it probably would work better without it to be honest. As it being two years old and out of warrenty there is no chance of it getting repaired.

So i have know gone back to a Windows machine. HP dv6750ea to be exact. I will be posting later about performance and all that good stuff as well as coming back from mac to windows :) .

Hey,

So i figured the best way to start this new start is to write about the new software we’re using.

Transfering over from Blogspot was easy and relatively pain free. A new account had to be set up, and unfortunately a new name had to be thought of, this was probably the hardest part of all!

So the old posts were simply copied and pasted over from the old blog (Yes we are that lazy) and then they were published. The design was changed, and no doubt it’ll be changed many times again. The picture was taken from a wallpaper found on www.interfacelift.com which is a superb site to find HD wallpapers and icons. There are just so many awesome ones to choose from!

We would definately recomend picking WordPress over Blogspot, and in hindsight i would have done that, but you live and learn and all that. WordPress (I think) has already submitted our blog to the big G (Google) and has also submitted it to multiple other sites.

So thats enough of the new updates and improvements that have been done to the site, back to more interesting things.

Untill next time.

Hey guys,

So you may well have noticed that we’ve recently transfered the old blog to this shiny new one at wordpress. We felt that wordpress would help us put our name out much more than blogspot did.

So this is a new leaf for us. We feel that this is the fresh start that we needed to make to make us update the blog more often, and bring you a higher quality of service.

We hope to be updating every week from now on so stay tuned and check back regularly!

Thanks.

Hey,

Well i recently got, and unlocked an 8Gb iPhone. I’ve decided to throw some kind of comparison together.

Ok, so the iPhone. Looks amazing. No point denying it, its one of the most attractive handsets available on the market at the moment. Its a comfortable fit to hold, and feels very sturdy. Its also well balanced *one end isnt heavier than the other*. The only downside from a hardware point of view is the fact that it doesnt have a 3.5mm headphone jack, so you cant use any set of standard headphones. However the headphones provided are bearable, and come with a built in mic so thats the handsfree taken care of.

The display on the iPhone is one of the best so far. It has a 3.5inch screen, which is also excellent outside, as you can still see what is on the screen, unlike some handsets which you have to shield from the sun. However..it does pick up finger prints amazingly well..and this can get fairly annoying..

The camera is another point i would like to raise. Ok so its only 1.3 megapixels…and yes there are much better cameras out there (Nokias 5MP on the N95) so its a bit of a let down..but..to be honest..if i wanted to take alot of photos i would invest in a digital camera..

Its a fast phone to operate as well, what i mean by this is unlike windows mobile or Blackberry’s you dont have to wait 5 seconds to load your text messages, or photos. It has a very easy interface to get around. Unlike the Blackberry which is just a mass of folders and icons can take a bit of time to get your head around.

The keyboard on the iPhone is well..very impressive. It takes a little while to get used to the qwerty keyboard, but its extremely easy to get the hang off. The keys are
large, and i prefer it to having a normal phone keyboard. I mean if its what your used to go for it, but try the iPhone keyboard in an Apple store (Or 02 store in the UK) before you decide :P . Oh and the inbuilt dictionary is really helpful, compared to Blackberrys predictive text, which just throws up the most random crap sometimes.

Another great feature on the iPhone is the iPod. Its so much better than Blackberry’s music system, its alot faster, cleaner looking, and having the ability to search using coverflow is amazing. The video quality is one of the best i have seen when watching movies. It puts the Blackberry to shame.

Personally, check both phones out before you buy, i can only review so much at the end of the day its what you like and what your needs are!

Not really sure what to write anymore.. um, i am sure i will find more stuff but i think this is probably enough for now..

Hey Guys,

First ever post. Piece of history. I’ve been told to make it good, but i can’t promise anything…

News

Well recently i got the dreaded ring of death on my xbox. This is the first time a console has ever died on me, and isn’t pleasant. Luckily, a donation of a GameCube has satisfied my gaming needs more than i can have imagined! With just one game i’ve forgotten about all the joy of my beloved 360. That game is Super Smash Brothers Melee. This is possibly the most fun i’ve ever had playing a video game, and also the longest i’ve ever spent on one game. I’ve been doing 3 or 4 hour stints of just non stop playing and its been fucking awesome.

Unfortunately though, this means i now badly want a Wii *Insert toilet humor here*. If not only for the next Super Smash Brothers, however this would mean that one game would cost about £220. Not a great return eh?

Other things that have happened recently is the finding of Jeff Gertsmann and Ryan Davis’s new blog. If you didn’t know Jeff got fired from Gamespot for supposedly giving a bad review of a game. This led to a whole load of other people leaving including another founding member Ryan Davis. Well luckily they are back once again like a renegade master, (Sorry couldn’t resist). So they have a new review site called Giantbomb.com. They’ve also released a few podcasts based quite loosely around video games, as they seem to talk about drinks more than anything. I would highly recommend checking it out if you want to loose yourself in some drinks and game reviews, as well as an hour and a half’s worth of comedy gold.

So thats all for now, i have to say that was fucking easy. :D
